Old Dogs, New Tricks...

This past weekend Amy and I went to Wellton, Az (just outside of Yuma) to see my dad and grandpa. We had a really fun time, ate good food, and had some good conversation.

While we were there, I developed a roll of film that we took through a Zeiss Ikon, an old camera that my dad and grandpa found while cleaning out my grandpa's basement.

After the film was spooled in a not-really-light-tight closet, I realized that I didn't bring any fixer. But we decided to develop it anyway, just to see if we even got any pictures. They were hard to see because of the emulsion still on the film, but we could tell the pictures were there.

So, after the film dried, I respooled it with the backing paper and brought it home, then fixed it later, not knowing what would happen.

Considering that they were developed and hung to dry on a patio in a breezy, sunny, dusty Arizona day without being fixed, then being fixed and redried 3 days later, they came out suprisingly well.

Here they are:

(l) My grandpa, not believing that there was film in the camera.
(r) My parents and Amy, the first picture we took with the camera. We didn't know if the flash would work with it.

(l) My grandpa, now knowing that there was film in the camera.
(r) Amy and my dad.

(l) My dad, telling Amy we have ways to make her smile. I forgot to focus.
(r) Percy Dovetonsils

(r) Amy.

That's about it for now.

Take it easy, all.

Nice photos! I really like the last one. You caught a great expression on Amy's face.
